GENERAL INFORMATION
The Kaua'i Bus operates a Public (Fixed Route) bus service and a Paratransit (Door-to-Door) bus service from Hanalei to Kekaha daily except on Sundays and County holidays. (See the map). There is no service to the Airport and limited service to Koloa/Poipu.
There are two (2) types of bus services provided:
- FIXED ROUTE: (Bus Stop to Bus Stop)

Bus Schedules with detailed information on times and bus stops are available on the buses or call the Transportation office (241-6410) for a location nearest you.
- PARATRANSIT: (Door to Door) service is available for qualified individuals in the categories below. Service days and hours are the same as fixed route transportation. Reservations are required 24 hours in advance for door-to-door pickups.
- SENIOR: Individuals must be 60 years and older and registered with the County Transportation Agency.
- AGENCY: Human Service Agencies contract the County Transportation Agency to provide transportation service for their program participants.
- ADA: (Americans with Disabilities Act) Individuals must be certified and registered as ADA eligible for service.

PLEASE NOTE ...
- Bus Passes may be purchased at the County Department of Finance - Treasury Division in Lihue; Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
- Bus Drivers have the authority to ask for identification and are not permitted to give change or deposit fares.
- No Refunds are allowed.
- Lost, stolen, destroyed or misplaced bus passes will not be replaced.
VEHICLES
All vehicles are lift-equipped to accommodate persons with mobility aids.
Each bus has a destination sign and route number.
CARRY ON ITEMS
Allowed:
- Size limited to 9"; X 14"; X 22".
- Folding baby strollers.
- Skate boards - within above size limitations and secured in a bag.
Not Allowed:
- Carry-on stored in the aisle or on the seat.
- Oversize Backpacks/metal frames
- Boogie Boards/Surfboards.
Footwear and Shirt required
PROHIBITED
- NO Eating/Drinking
- NO Smoking
- NO Profanity
- NO Animals except certified seeing-eye animals.
- NO Pick-ups or Drop-offs at undesignated bus stops.

The County Transportation Agency reserves the right to deny service to persons whose behavior is abusive, disruptive, threatening, etc., to the driver, other passengers or to themselves.
