Frequently Asked Questions about Kauai:
What can I do with my children on Kauai?
You MUST try out Kamalani Playground and Lydgate Beach Park (near Kapaa) which is adjacent to it. They have an enclosed "baby" pond which is very shallow and a larger pond that has great snorkeling with fish that chase you more then you chase them. Very friendly. Across the street is a big playground that was built by the community for kids.

Your kids will love it. There is a wonderful walking path also that leads to the Kamalani Bridge a ways away that kids love as well. You can also drive there.
If you are on the South side, there is the Poipu Beach Park that also has an enclosed swimming pond.
Lifeguards at both Poipu Beach Park and Lydgate Beach Park.
There is also the Kauai Children's Discovery Museum which is at the Kauai Village Shopping Center next to Safeway in Kapaa.

Also in that same shopping center is the Kauai Heritage Center of Hawaiian Culture and Arts, a long name for a small lovely place with some beautiful exhibits and friendly people. They offer lei-making classes, and other cultural crafts classes during the mornings. Free admission and a small shop. Small fees for supplies for the classes.
Their phone number is 808-821-2070.
The Kauai Museum is located in Lihue, just a short distance from the Marriott. It's a good small museum with a great gift shop, lots of books. The gift shop has museum-quality local crafts.
