RECREATION
Accessible Beach Parks:
Kauai County provides a Landeez all-terrain wheelchair at lifeguard stations at Poipu Beach Park, Lydgate Beach Park and Salt Pond Beach Park. The Landeez chair is able to go over sand and be close to the water's edge. The above mentioned parks have accessible parking, pathways, pavilions, restrooms, showers, and Landeez chairs. Visitors and residents need to ask the lifeguards for usage of the landeez chair, the chairs remain at the beaches. For more information about the landeez beach chairs a person could call Kauai Parks & Recreation, Bernard Carvalho, at 808-241-6648.
There are several beaches that are not as accessible as the parks mentioned above but they have flat parking lots and shoreline views.
Accessible County Boat Harbors: Kukuiula Boat Harbor (south shore - before Spouting Horn) has accessible parking, restrooms, and a pavilion for picnicking with great surrounding views of ocean activity.
State Boat Harbors include Port Allan Boat Harbor (Eleele - going west), Nawiliwili Boat Harbor / Coastguard (Lihue - east)
